Fab Four!
Well, I’m four days into my 10 day challenge and I have to say that overall, things are going well. I’m feeling really great and have been enjoying the process.
I think most of all what I like is the fact that this challenge has made me focused and committed to healthy eating. My exercise was really on track before I started, but I know that healthy bodies are made in the kitchen so I feel like this Shakeology challenge is a big boost in my overall health level. Not only am I having a nutrient rich shake everyday as a meal, I’m also prepping healthy breakfasts and dinners for myself and my husband – lucky him!
So far I’ve had all of my Shakeologies as lunch replacements and that has worked really well for me. They keep me going through the day, and while I thought I would miss having a “real meal”, the shake is filling and the lack of prep work and dirty dishes means I’m not missing my typical lunches at all. I have added extra water to my shakes to make them pretty large, but I like volume. In other meals, I always add extra veggies so there’s a lot on my plate, and adding water in addition to the milk in my Shakeology follows the same principal.
Confession time – chocolate Shakeology is not the flavor for me. Blending it with berries makes a big difference, but on its own or with a banana (whose delicious flavor is overpowered by chocolate) I don’t care for it. I’m going to experiment with adding a bit of peanut butter or maybe some cold coffee, but I’m glad there are other flavor choices.
Greenberry Shakeology rocks my world – I love the fresh, slightly fruity flavor all on its own, but blending it with a little fruit is perfection! Tropical Strawberry tastes a lot like strawberry yogurt to me. It’s not my favorite, but if you like strawberry, it’s worth a shot. Personally, I have a hard time with things that mimic natural flavors (like the difference between cherry candy and an actual cherry), so that’s why Greenberry is #1 in my book.
I have had little cravings here and there (mostly for processed carbs and sugar, both of which I’ve cut way down on during this challenge), but I stocked my fridge with healthy fruits and veggies and made myself some yummy snacks to help me curb those desires. The fact that the sun is out and bathing suit season looms doesn’t hurt either! A few nights ago I really wanted something sweet after dinner, but instead of reaching for ice cream, I grabbed a few strawberries. I know it sounds overly virtuous, but they were so sweet and delicious that they hit the spot.
It’s only been four days, so I can’t say that suddenly my skinny jeans fit again, but I really do feel like this is a great kick start for a healthy summer that’ll get me back to my goal weight. I feel energized and healthy and proud of myself for taking this step (with a lot of help from Dillon, of course!). I can’t wait to see the results after the full ten days!
