June 2017
I draw a lot of inspiration from the people I work out with. The atmosphere is very supportive and non-competitive. I never thought I would say that working out is “fun” – but it honestly is one of my favorite parts of my day.
Q/A with Lee Ann
What are your favorite things to do?
Traveling with friends and family, preferably to somewhere warm and sunny. Exploring Ballard’s many breweries and being a sports mom – you can usually find me on a sideline somewhere. I’ll probably be clutching coffee and looking a bit grouchy if it’s raining.
Where is your favorite place to eat?
KISS Café and Thai Thani
Do you remember when you started our classes and why?
I started in June 2016 and got hooked. I went on a family hike to Wallace Falls in May 2016 and was ridiculously and dramatically sore afterwards. I realized then that I needed to do something if I was going to have any chance of keeping up with my son as he gets bigger and stronger. I need to take the same hike now because I’m sure I would feel a big difference.
What are some health and fitness goals you have achieved since being here?
I feel so much better every day. I am stronger and have more energy. I can ride my bike on the hills in Ballard without feeling like I’m going to die.
I’ve had two back surgeries and my surgeon was insistent that I needed to lift weights. What do you know? He was right! My back feels so much better due to increased core strength. I like that the Fitness Lab trainers always offer modifications so I can workout safely and be mindful of my back.
What is a quote that you live by?
“It is well with my soul…”
